Science to Challenge Students’ Conception

Elementary Science Program

Science is an active way of learning about the natural world around us. Through inquiry students acquire knowledge and understanding by questioning, observing, investigating, analyzing and evaluating.

The Inquiry Instructional Learning Model is recommended and endorsed by the National Science Education Standards. This sequence of experiences – Engage, Explore, Explain, Extend Evaluate – is found in Glenwood Academy’s Science Curriculum.

The Inquiry Instructional Learning Model incorporates the features of inquiry into a sequence of experiences designed to challenge students’ current conceptions and provide time and opportunities for learning to occur.
